Word has it that AT&T -- which was until a few weeks ago SBC (and was Ameitech and Indiana Bell before that) -- has launched one of the most aggressive advertising campaigns in the history of the Internet.
According to a post in the blog Beej on the Box, the TV ads that launched last week with the theme of "Your world. Delivered." are being recast into more customized messages for different parts of the Internet.
(And don't forget the double-truck full-color ads in papers like the Wall Street Journal and Indianapolis Star last week to announce the birth of the new AT&T. The ads featured a photo handsome illustration nighttime view of North America seen from the Atlantic continental shelf with the curvature of the Earth visible off the Pacific coast and lights of all the continent's major cities visible.)
Beej says he has seen AT&T ads today on Yahoo!, MSN.com, CNN.com, MSNBC.com, and ABCnews.com. Says Beej:
Pretty cool stuff. :)
UPDATE: Our 'Weekly Update' memo includes this item:
Try and not find the new AT&T on the Web today. We're launching a yearlong, online ad campaign that will reach millions of people on sites like Yahoo!, MSN, ESPN.com and Weather.com -- it's called "Your Web. Delivered." Our largest-ever online campaign will:
- reach 46 percent of the online audience in the United States
- generate 1 billion online impressions in the coming year
- be customized. ESPN.com viewers will see "Your playoffs. Delivered." On CNET, it'll be "Your blogging. Delivered."
